Your doctor will arrange the appropriate referral and provide you with the necessary documentation. Some allied health services may attract a Medicare rebate when referred under a care plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's in a general health check?

Blood pressure, heart, blood sugar, cholesterol, weight, and a chat about lifestyle. Depending on your age and risk factors, we might also do an ECG, lung function (spirometry), or pathology tests on the day.

Do you do pre-employment medicals?

Yes. We do occupational and pre-employment health assessments tailored to whatever the employer needs: physical exam, drug and alcohol screening, hearing and vision tests, fitness for duty. Bring the form from your employer if you have one.

How often should I have a general checkup?

Every one to two years for most adults. If you're over 45 or there's chronic disease in the family, annual is a better idea. Your GP can recommend what fits your situation.

What happens at a pre-employment medical?

Physical exam, vision and hearing checks, drug and alcohol screening, a check of whether you're fit for the role, and a review of your medical history. The exact mix depends on the role and the employer. Allow about 30 to 45 minutes.
