Children's Health

Bringing kids to the doctor is its own kind of stress. Sick child, busy waiting room, you trying to remember the last time they ate. Our GPs are used to all of it. Several of them have a particular interest in paediatrics, and we bulk bill children under 16 on weekdays so the cost isn't another thing to worry about.

Allied health referrals are coordinated by your GP during your consultation. Most allied health services are provided by external practitioners in the local area. Your doctor will arrange the appropriate referral and provide you with the necessary documentation. Some allied health services may attract a Medicare rebate when referred under a care plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does my child need their immunisations?

Australia's National Immunisation Program starts at birth, with key shots at 2, 4, 6, 12 and 18 months, then boosters at 4 years and during the teens. We follow the current schedule. If your child has missed any, we can work out a plan to catch them up.

What happens at the health check kids have before school?

It's a health check kids have before they start school. The doctor looks at physical health, vision, hearing, speech, and social and emotional development. The aim is to spot anything that might benefit from extra support before kindy or prep.

What developmental issues can you assess?

Speech and language delays, behaviour, learning difficulties, social development, motor skills. If something needs more specialist input, your GP can refer to a paediatrician, speech pathologist, or occupational therapist.

Do you bulk bill for kids?

Yes. Children 16 and under are bulk billed for weekday appointments with a valid Medicare card. That covers immunisations, health checks, developmental assessments, and regular consults.
